Music Mania!

KCON.

KCON is a yearly Korean Music festival held in the United States of America and Japan. Though starting off in Southern California, the music festival has expanded to Los Angeles, New Jersey and Japan. The events are organised by Powerhouse Live, Mnet Media, CJ E&M and Koreaboo.

KCON itself have explained that there is no age restriction to whom may attend however it is advised to attend with an adult if you are under eighteen. They are popularly found on common social media sites such as Facebook, Youtube, Instagram and Twitter. They also have a connected blog. These sites primarily attract teenagers aged at roughly sixteen or over as these are types of people often on these sites.

Through these sites is where they mainly advertise their events and the dates as each year, dates vary. There will be countdowns to the event on Youtube and constant updates on the performers or dates on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram. There are also other Korean-Pop related articles such as AllKPop who make KCON's announcements more public. Their advertisement is focused a lot on social media.

Korean Pop has recently created a wave internationally, becoming more and more popular throughout countries such as the US and UK. Many fans have become devoted across different countries which led to the first event in 2012. The cost of tickets vary as KCON carries through a three day period. Prices can range from $50 to $250 depending on what you are going for (e.g a concert, engagement pass). There are individual tickets or a three-day convention pass.

Artists who preform at these venues also vary with each year and location, Los Angeles had their line up as AOA, Block B, Crush, Got7, Monsta X, Red Velvet, Roy Kim, Shinhwa, Sister, Super Junior and Zion T.

KCON mainly aim to spread the K-Pop culture so it's known in more places than just Asia. Being an idol in K-Pop is very daunting, hard-working and stressful. These idols work numerous ours to complete their dreams and deserve the credit of being known. KCON spreads awareness to these groups and also lets fans have a, what could be for some, once in a life time opportunity to meet their favourite celebrity and listen to them live.
